From its founding in 1995, Detroit Community Initiative, Inc. (DCI) recognized the greatest community need was in the area of youth development services. Over time, the programming has grown from summer daycamps and special events to include year-round services.
DCI provides classes in computer literacy, job readiness training, cultural diversity, community service projects for youth ages 14 to 17. Books and incentive items donated to area schools and after school programs provide enrichment to children ages 4-12
DCI's GIS Youth Corps mapped 12,000 parcels of land in northeast Detroit. See brief youth report. (pdf)
